The department of Health and Family, Nagaland, on Sunday said that for the first time within two months, sample positivity of rate of Covid-19 in Nagaland has gone down below 10 percent decreasing from the 23 percent at the start of the lockdown since the past weeks.

The State has vaccinated 32 percent of eligible beneficiaries as first dose 63586 doses have been administered in the past weeks in the highest dose administered in a single week.

As per the department’s official weekly bulletin, it disclosed that out of the 375 Covid-19 deaths in the State since February 2021, only one percent had been fully vaccinated and two weeks had passed after the second dose.

Though there were reports of death after the 2nd dose that happened after two weeks of vaccination, the health and family welfare department’s weekly bulletin stated that 99.7 percent deaths after February 2021 have not been vaccinated.

Stating that the vaccine provides various significant protections even by a dose after two weeks of vaccination, the bulletin also informed that till date no healthcare workers in the Covid-19 hospitals have been succumbed to the virus despite being at the highest risk of exposure as most of them have been vaccinated.

Mentioning that with more citizens coming forward to receive the vaccine in the State capital, Kohima district’s urban areas, the department also said that the immunization drive has been equally positive even in the rural areas with the villagers turning up to receive the jabs from the medical personnel.

Meanwhile, the Health and Family Department, Nagaland, has also updated in its bulletin that a total of 4,02778 doses have been administered till June 19.

It may be mentioned that earlier, the High Powered Committee (HPC) emphasized to inoculate more people, however, it was learnt from vaccinators that there are scarcity of the vials due to which only limited vaccines are being administered to people during the drive being conducted.
