Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar, and his officers along the two new voters who were given badges and EPIC cards, and also the two winners of online poster with Slogan writing competition on the theme “My Vote Is My Right-The Value of Vote” on Tuesday.

Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland also joined in celebrating the “12th National Voters Day (NVD)” with a state level programme under the theme “Making Election Inclusive, Accessible and Participative” organized virtually on Tuesday by the office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nagaland, in Kohima.
In his speech, Chief Electoral Officer Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar, reminded of President of India, Ram Nath Kovind’s speech delivered last year that one should always respect the valuable right to vote.
Stating that it is the responsibility of each one of us, especially the youth, who get the right to vote for the first time, to exercise their franchise with the utmost sincerity and inspire others too to do so, Shashank shared that the main focus was on young voters and technology enables several things be it registering online application.
He further advised young minds to vigilantly use technology by saying that it is very useful but one need to use it in a balanced manner.
The CEO also administered the NVD pledge to the officers and participants.
On the occasion, the Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar, felicitated the newly enrolled voters and handed over their Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC).
Seven Best Booth level officers and winners of the online poster with slogan writing competition for Kohima district were also felicitated.
Similar programmes were also organized at the various District Election Offices to mark the day.
