Nagaland has decided to create Tseminyu, Niuland, and Chumukedima as the 13th, 14th and the 15th new districts in the state.
Advisor for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and Women Resources Development, Nagaland, R Khing on Saturday informed said that the Nagaland cabinet under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio took the key decision. He disclosed this while addressing media persons at a press conference at his official residence in Thizama, Kokima.
Khing while appreciating Rio, State Cabinet and others for declaring Tseminyu district, termed the decision as the greatest Christmas gift for the Rengma community.
He extended his gratitude and happiness to Rio and the Cabinet for taking care of the long standing demand, which has also been the greatest aspiration of the Rengmas.
“Rio managed to convince all the cabinet to grant districts not only to Tseminyu but also Niuland and Chumukedima”, Khing said and added that creation of Tseminyu district was fulfillment of the government’s motto “Deeds not words’.
He said the Rengmas are happy and excited and are rejoicing in the historic decision of the Rio government.
Khing also expressed hope that the State government would give utmost attention to develop Tseminyu as the 13th district of the State.
He later termed December 18 as an “epoch-making day” for the Rengma community.
Meanwhile, Advisor Khing informed that the official inauguration of Tseminyu as a district will be done after the festive season is over.
Rengma Hoho president, Pollen Tep, while maintaining that Tseminyu district demand had been the greatest aspiration of Rengmas since 2003 said Rio has fulfilled his assurance and thanked the present ministry.
Rengma youth leaders Kenneth Kath and Kegwayhun Tep acknowledged all the neighbors and Naga community, especially Angami for supporting the Rengmas in achieving a full-fledged district. They also congratulated Niuland and Chumukedima for being declared as districts.

It was organized to implore upon the state government to expedite the process for creation of Tseminyu district and also to register its resentment over the lapse of 73 years since the creation of the Bench Court, Tseminyu in 1948 which has remained a sub-division till date.
Altogether 73 participants took part signifying 73 years of Statehood and 58 Km milestones signifying 58 years of establishment of Tseminyu headquarter.
At the culmination programme at the Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima, the RSZ also had submitted a memorandum to the Nagaland chief minister, Neipiu Rio, through which it called for considerate and timely action towards the “justified cause” and to renew the people’s faith in fairness and justice.
