Congress moves Speaker for disqualification of RK Imo, Yamthong Haokip

The two MLAs who were elected on Congress joined the BJP at its headquarters at New Delhi on November 8. The Congress said that their joining to BJP violates the article 191 of Indian Constitution.

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Monday moved the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly for disqualification of MLAs RK Imo Singh of Sagolband AC and Yamthong Haokip of Saikul AC. 
RK Imo Singh and Yamthong Haokip who were elected on Congress joined the BJP at its headquarters at New Delhi on November 8.

The disqualification petitions were moved under the Tenth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.  
Two separate petitions were filed against RK Imo and Yamthong Haokip by MPCC general secretary (Election & Media) Soibam Jeeten Singh under anti defection law. 
After submitting petitions to the Speaker through his private secretary, the MPCC team led by Soibam Jeeten Singh told the media that defection of Congress MLA Yamthong Haokip to join BJP and joining of RK Imo Singh who was declared by the Speaker as MLA without any political affiliation, to the BJP were against the article 191 of Indian Constitution.
