The Rengmas have contributed greatly to the Naga community especially in all the historical events of the state, says Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, on Thursday has called upon the Rengma community to make Tseminyu district a role model district for Nagaland state.
Addressing the inauguration of the Tseminyu district Headquarter at Rengma Sports Association (RSA) ground, Tseminyu, Rio said that although a small tribe, the Rengmas have contributed greatly to the Naga community especially in all the historical events of the state.
Mentioning that the first Naga Flag was woven by a Rengma lady and was first hoisted in Rengma territory, Rio urged the Rengmas and particularly the youth to carry forward their rich legacies.
Stating that the Rengmas have rich culture and traditions and blessed with fertile land, Rio expressed hope that the Rengmas carry forward the legacy of their leaders and became a model district for economic development.
He also said that the representative of 12 A/C, R Khing has worked hard for the creation of the district and thanked all his cabinet colleagues and all the elected members, NGOs, Churches various civil societies and hohos for extending their support of his leadership for which his government was able to create four districts and many other developments in the state.
He said it was through the consensus decision of the elected members that the districts were granted including Tseminyu district.
Rio also urged the Rengmas to submit their immediate requirements which is at priority so that in the upcoming budget session in March, the state could allot funds accordingly to the old and new districts. The chief minister said the government will bring in more developments to the district within a year and also informed that Shamator district would be officially inaugurated on March 4.
Earlier, Neiphiu Rio unveiled the Monolith.
Short speeches were also delivered by host of the event, Advisor, Animal Husbandary & Veterinary, and Women Resources Development, R Khing, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom, Advisor, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Nickiesalie (Nicky) Kire, Advisor, Information Technology and Communication, Science and Technology & NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon, MLA Yitachu, Commissioner Nagaland, and Tenyimi People’s Organization (TPO) president, Timikha Koza.
The peogramme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu, Dr Zasekhuolie Chusi, Rengma Hoho president, Pollem Tep gave the welcome address.
