It may be recalled that Thotreichan Kashung and Ngasomi Lungleng were found dead in a highly decomposed state on August 8, 2021 near the river bank of Ihang, on the outskirt of southern Sinakathei. The duo had been missing since August 4, 2021.

They were last seen on August 4, 2021 at Dongshum village, Kangpokpi District, around 4 Km south of Sinakeithei village. They were dropped at Dongshum by a jeep belonging to one Bira who is also a resident of Sinakeithei village between 9-10 am. Bira was on his way to Imphal and had given lift to the two deceased.
