Mount Longthan gets motorable road

Mount Longthan at Phungcham is said to be the dispersing point of Tangkhuls who migrated from Makhel long time back. From this very place, it started dispersing to various places of present Tangkhul. Knowing the significance of this historical place, MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency Khashim Vashum has contributed by constructing a rest camp at Mount Longthan.

The rest camp was inaugurated by Headman of Phungcham, Wungnaongam Horamwo on October 5, 2021. Since, the approach road to Mount Longthan was not motorable, MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency, Khashim Vashum on being approached had readily agreed to construct the said road a distance of about 1km from the main road to the top of Mount Longthan.

MLA Khashim Vashum immediately deployed earth diggers on October 7, 2021 and the said road was completed on October 15, 2021. Chairman of Phungcham Village Development Council (VDC), Ngathingkhui Horam on behalf of the villagers expressed gratitude to MLA Khashim Vashum for the noble and generous contribution. 


Since the approach road to Mount Longthan is motorable now, old and young can visit the historic place anytime. Earlier it took almost an hour to climb  and reach the top of Mount Longthan.  Situated at 025° 131’19” N latitude and 094°22’59” longitude, Mount Longthan is considered as the dispersing point of Longnao (group of people) who migrated from Makhel.
