As part of a two-day tour programme, Annpurna Devi, Minister of State for Education, Government of India on Thursday interacted with the DLOs of Ukhrul at the chamber of Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall. Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar, welcomed the visiting VVIP. DC briefed about Ukhrul District having an area of 2206sq.km and a population of 1,35,215 lakhs.

Minister of State for Education, Government of India, Annpurna Devi visited Ukhrul and held interaction programme with the DLO’s and public of Ukhrul on Thursday.
Annpurna Devi, during her interaction with the public, stated, “No matter how small the state is, it is the hope of the Prime Minister to bring development, provide all the services to the public and bring the state closer to Delhi.”
She added, “the state of Manipur was known for blockades and bombs in the past. Now, we are seeing peace and Manipur is one of the most important trading points for India.”
In her address, she also pointed out that the Manipur Startups has helped more than 1000 startups and created employment for the youths. The state and centre have framed different policies and schemes so as to alleviate the lives of the people and urge the gathering to make the best use of these services.
Annpurna Devi also planted a tree sapling within the premise of Mini Secretariat Complex, Ukhrul.

Powerpoint presentations were made by ZEO, ADC, ICDS, District Social Welfare, Health Department, PHED, Agriculture, DIC, Forest Department, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana(PMGSY), Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency(MDRRDA), Veterinary Department, CAF& PD & E- District.
Mentioned was made during the Powerpoint presentation that there are 271 government schools in the district under ZEO. The number of students enrolled in primary, upper primary, secondary and higher secondary for the academic session 2022-23 is 29974. The department had introduced various schemes to the students, like the distribution of free school uniforms and textbooks and financial assistance in the form of stipends to children with special needs, transport allowance, escort allowance, etc. It reported that under School Fagathansi Mission, the department has covered two phases so far. The ZEO also informed that 16 schools have been facilitated with rain water harvesting.
Meanwhile, ADC reported constructions of 15 numbers of barrack type teachers’ quarter and 51 uprgradation of schools extensions under State Plan & NLCPR since 2011 till date.
An interaction with the general public was held at DRDA training hall. During the meeting, the Hon’ble Minister distributed schemes to beneficiaries under various departments. Medical Department has 8 beneficiaries of health card under CMHT & PMJAY, aids and appliances under ADIP schemes from DSWO, 8 beneficiaries under PMFME, MUDRA & PMEGP schemes from DIC, 65 beneficiaries under alternative Seed and 1beneficiary under PMKSY from Horticulture & Soil Conservation Department and CAF & PD has 5 beneficiaries under NSFA. In the event, some of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude as well as their hope for more such services.
The Minister also visited the sites of Ava Market, Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, SHGs under VDVK and District Hospital.
The meeting was also attended by SP of Ukhrul, Ningshem Vashum, ADM of Ukhrul, Chunglenmang Kipgen DFO of Ukhrul, Shangam Shaliwo, CEO of ADC-Ukhrul, David Kashungnao, among others.
