P Shartatchandra Singh, MLA, Moirang Assembly Constituency has nothing to do with the incident that took place during the Opinion Poll at BJP Bishnupur District Office, clarified the office of the MLA Moirang Assembly Constituency on Saturday.

In a representation submitted to the president, BJP Manipur Pradesh, the office of the MLA said that the incident ensued as the poll was interrupted many times following Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Manoharmayum Barish Sharma who produced a list of voters that was not approved by concerned Bishnupur Mandal.

As there was problem with the list of voters of Bishnupur AC, Moirang Mandal also demanded the list of eligible electors for the opinion poll for Moirang AC in advance to avoid any further delay. The representation said that thousands of BJP workers along with 2 BJP MLAs, were made to wait for more than four hours because of the delay. As expected, the officials brought out a list of voters which was not approved by BJP Moirang, Mandal as it was not signed by any of the state officials. The office of the MLA, Moirang alleged that the “unapproved list was submitted by his brother-in-law and former Congress MLA M Prithviraj Singh, who recently joined the BJP.

Since the list included many in-eligible voters (all past Congress councilors), Moirang Mandal and the MLA sought an explanation from the authority. There was an argument with Moirang Mandal team but the matter remained inconclusive. The officials then walk away without giving any particular reason. Voting of Moirang AC had not even started and therefore there was no question of snatching ballot, claimed the representation.

The office of the MLA said that to settle the issue once for all, Barish Sharma must release the list of eligible voters submitted by his brother-in-law so that public will know the truth and reasons for the objection raised by Moirang Mandal.
