Minister Rajen assures action against headmaster of school found running coaching classes

On May 24, a team of Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF), Thoubal District Committee conducted a surprise visit at Singa Upper Primary School and found that coaching classes were being conducted without maintaining SOP.

Education minister S Rajen Singh on Wednesday assured appropriate action will be taken against the headmaster of Singa Upper Primary School for not complying with the state government’s order during COVID-19 pandemic.  

Speaking to the media at his residence at Salam, minister Rajen said that a report coaching class being conducted in Upper Primary School, Singa in Thoubal District has been circulated through local dailies. A student organisation, while conducting a surprise visit after receiving complaints in this regard, found coaching classes being conducted in this school, he added. 

The minister said, “We are at a very critical period because of COVID-19 pandemic. Our priority at this juncture is to save the lives of our people. “It is very unfortunate if any individual or official disrespects the order of the government during this very pandemic hour,” he added.

He said that the director of Education (S) has been instructed to take up appropriate action against such government officials. Action will also be taken up against those private schools authorities by cancelling recognition if found violating government orders, the minister added.  

It may be mentioned that on May 24, a team of Manipuri Students’ Federation (MSF), Thoubal District Committee conducted a surprise visit at Singa Upper Primary School and found that coaching classes were being conducted without maintaining SOP. The student body had urged concerned authorities to take action against the headmaster of the school.
