Manipur’s first 24X7 news channel ELITE TV launched

Department of Information and Public Relations Director H Balkrishna on Sunday launched the first 24X7 cable news channel ELITE TV in Manipur. At a simple function held at ELITE TV office at Uripok Laikhulembi Maning near BT Flyover Bridge, chief guest H Balkrishna also launched website of ELITE TV.

Speaking on the occasion, director H Balkrishna said the role of the media in the small state like Manipur is commendable. Saying that many people in the state are keen to become a journalist, he urged news readers to analyse the news thoroughly rather than just reading them out. He also advised them to spell the names of persons and places correctly while reading news. Joining this field demands very hard work, he stated.

In his address, ELITE TV Editor Jit Ningomba he had worked in different electronic media houses for years.  While working under certain media firms, he sometimes faced inconvenience in seeking approval from the management side for what he planned to do. Elite Group of Communications and Network was born out of this inconvenience and established with like-minded people. After registration as MSME firm, it is registered as a cable TV (CTV) under Manipur Post and Telegraph Act. He also said that ELITE TV aims to broadcast news 24X7 for the first time in Manipur.

Veteran journalist BB Sharma, political analyst L Saratchandra, senior journalist Pradip Phanjoubam, senior journalist RK Bobychand, Retd IAS, RK Nimai and former senior SP of Nagaland, P Sonamani also took part in the launching function.
