Manipur crosses grim record of 1,000 COVID-19 deaths

Active cases in the state surged to 9,078. Out of this, 3,002 persons are in home isolation.

Manipur on Wednesday crosses the grim record of 1,000 COVID-19 deaths as 10 individuals succumbed to the deadly virus. 751 new cases out of 8,492 tests were reported in the last 24 hours ending 5 pm Wednesday. The total number of infections now stands at 61,848.

Active cases in the state surged to 9,078. Out of this, 3,002 persons are in home isolation, according to the Health Department.

The positive cases from general population are — 231 from Imphal West, 125 from Imphal East, 85 from Churachandpur, 84 from Kakching, 59 from Thoubal, 39 from Tamenglong, 37 from Bishnupur, 34 from Ukhrul, 21 from Kangpokpi, 13 from Senapati, seven each from Chandel and Jiribam, six from Noney, and one from Tengnoupal.

In the last 24 hours, the State Level Covid 19 Deaths Audit Committee has reported 10 COVID-19 deaths, taking the death toll to 1,008 Four individuals from Imphal West, two each from Churachandpur and Bishnupur, and one each from Kakching and Thoubal died at RIMS (1). JNIMS (3), Shija Hospital (1), Raj Medicity (2), DH Churachandpur (2), and DH Thoubal (1).

On Wednesday, 408 persons were discharged, out of which — 295 are from home isolation, 14 from RIMS (12) and JNIMS (2) and the rest 99 from other Covid care facilities. The recovery rate now stands at 83.69 per cent.

Oxygen Status

As per the Health Department, in the last 24 hours, a total of 1272 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 446 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health facilities of Manipur. District hospitals and government institutions have 385 D and 70 B type filled cylinders; out of these —
