As the number of new COVID-19 cases continued to increase in the state, containment zones are beginning to dot localities, reminiscent of last year when the pandemic was at its peak. But this time the schedule area for the containment zones has been significantly reduced.
On April 18 and 19, Imphal West DC announced as many as 22 containment zones in different parts of the district.
Like before, several containment measures are being taken up in the schedule area:
1) Sealing of the geographical area.
2) Entry and exit of population from the containment area.
3) Closure of schools, offices, if any and banning public gathering of any type.
4) Banning vehicular movement in the area.
5) Initiating active surveillance of COVID-19 cases.
6) Compulsory use of Aarogya Setu application by all the people staying/residing within the containment area.

Moreover, the geographical area lying within a radius of 150 metre beyond the containment zone/area is identified as the Buffer Zone and the following measures are being adopted in order to effectively break the chain of transmission of the disease:
1) Extensive surveillance and contact tracing of the positive cases.
2) Reporting clinically suspect cases on COVID-19 on a real time basis.
3) Clinical management of confirmed cases.
4) Sensitization of the local residents on personal hygiene, physical distancing and other preventive measures.
