A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to Manipur and campaigned for the upcoming election, Union Home Minister Amit Shah campaigned in three different districts of the state on Wednesday.
He addressed two public meetings at Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts and held a door-to-door campaign at Yaiskul assembly constituency.
During his short speech at Brig. M. Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi District Headquarters, Amit Shah said that if the people of Kangpokpi and Manipur vote the BJP into power again, “we will bring long-lasting peace to the state by bringing all the militant groups into the mainstream”.
The union home minister also appealed to the people of Kangpokpi to vote for the three BJP candidates of 50-Kangpokpi AC, Nemcha Kipgen, 46-Saikul AC, Yamthong Haokip, and 51-Saitu AC Ngamthang Haokip.
The Union Home Minister continued, “owing to limited time I would not be able to tell you in detail what developments have been done by the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and N. Biren Singh in Manipur but I would definitely tell you that peace has begun sprouted in the state of Manipur as insurgency, bandh, blockade, etc. started to vanished from the state only after the BJP came into power”.

“We will bring the Kuki militant groups into the mainstream and solve their problems to bring long-lasting peace if they vote the BJP into power”, asserted the union home minister. He also said that if the Kuki people vote BJP into power, sustainable and long-lasting peace will be brought for them.

Manipur goes to poll on February 28 and March 3, and the results will be announced on March 10 along with that of other four states – Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa.
