Churachandpur police suspect the accused might have duped many gullible people and urge them to come forward to report the matter to the police station and assist in further investigation.

Churachandpur police on Friday arrested a 38-year-old man for impersonating as an “Additional SP (Investigation)” of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and project director of Sarva Shikhsha Abhiyan.
The alleged impersonator has been identified as Thangjalen a.k.a. Thangboi s/o Chongjathang Haokip of Gamnomjang Village, Churachandpur.
According to Churachandpur police, Thangjalen was arrested based on a reliable report from a COVID Village Task Force at Pearsonmun village, Churachandpur on Friday. One fake ID card was also recovered from him.
Thangjalen was impersonating himself as Addl. Superintendent of Police (Investigation), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and using the fake ID card with fraudulent intent, Churachandpur police said in a release.
Churachandpur Police Station has registered two separate FIR — u/s 419/171/468/471/465/188 IPC and another u/s 186/188 IPC against the accused, based on two separate reports.
According to the police, preliminary interrogation has revealed that he used to work in a garment showroom in Gurugram since 2015 and had come to Churachandpur post COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020.
Other than posing as Additional SP (CBI), he has also allegedly impersonated as Project Director (Sarva Shikhsha Abhiyan) and might have conned gullible people. It was also revealed that he got his fake ID card printed in Delhi and has been using it illegally, according to the police.
Churachandpur police urged the public, who are victims of his activities, to come forward to report the matter to the police station and assist in further investigation.
