Tingshong Students’ Organisation has appealed to the concerned authority for immediate and necessary intervention in detecting and testing of COVID-19 in their village after two persons were tested COVID-19 positive on May 26, 2021.

Tingshong village is situated about 85km to the east of Senapati Headquarters and the nearest PHC is at Oinam which is about 25km.

Tingshong Students’ Organisation president NW Joyngam Vashum told this correspondent that two persons from their village were tested positive on May 26, 2021 and were evacuated and being kept at COVID Care Centre, Ukhrul for further treatment.

There is fear and apprehension among the villagers that there could be more people infected by the virus, he said, adding there is no proper pharmacy and villagers are feeling really hopeless at this hour. On behalf of the villagers, Joyngam Vashum appealed to the concerned authority to “kindly reach us your mighty helping hands”.

Due to remoteness, the transportation and communication system and other facilities including health are very poor, added Joyngam Vashum.

It is learnt that they have approached earlier to the concerned authority for detecting and testing of COVID-19. However, there seems to be no positive outcome. It is reported that the villagers were verbally informed to come to Oinam PHC for testing.

Tingshong falls under Karong Constituency, is situated 58 km away from sub-district headquarter Tadubi. Tingsong has a total population of 1,377 people having 246 houses.
