The CSOs and Meira Paibis are demanding the government to appeal to a higher court against the judgement acquitting Lhukhoshei Zou and six others and also to re-investigate the case.

Pressing the government to appeal to a higher court against the judgement of the Lhukhoshei Zou case, while CSOs and Meira Paibi organisations continue to stage sit-ins, women CSOs continue to submit representations to MP, MLAs and ministers.
On Wednesday, the Nupi Khunnai Chaokhat Kanglup, Ningthem Pukhri Mapal and Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA) jointly held a sit-in at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, Imphal East against the acquittal of former Chandel ADC chairman Lhukhosei Zou involved in the 2018 multi-crore drug haul case, a release said.
Speaking on the issue, one of the protestors, Kangabam Sarika said that people are not content with the judgement. The possibility of collusion and manipulation by those in power cannot be ruled out, she asserted.
She also urged the government to appeal to a higher court and re-investigate the case in order to clear the minds of the people. She also raised doubts that someone with a salary of just around Rs 10,000 could be the owner of the drugs worth crores of rupees. She further asserted that capital punishment should be given to the drug smugglers in order to save future generations.
CADA vice president Dipanjit Ningthoujam also spoke about the matter, it added.
The release further said that a sit-in was also held at Phaknung, Imphal East, jointly organised by Phaknung Social Youth Club and Phaknung Apunba Meira Paibi Lup. CADA vice president Ningthoujam Doren delved on the issue who spoke at the sit-in.
Different slogans against the acquittal of Lhukhosei Zou were also shouted at the end of the sit-ins, it added.
On the other hand, women leaders of the All Manipur Women Social Reformation and Development Samaj, Thoubal Ima, AMKIL, Tammi Chingmi, THANIL, Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Semgat Sagatpa Lup, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup, Apunba Nupi Lup, (ANUL) Bishnupur, Nongchup Imphal Palem Ima Apunba Lup (NIMPAL), and Ireipak Enaat Chanura Loinasillon (ECHAL) submitted representations demanding the government to appeal to a higher court and to re-investigate the case to different political leaders.
It was submitted to MP (Outer Manipur) Lorho S Pfoze, Law minister Th Satyabrata Singh, minister Letpao Haokip, MLA Th Radheshyam, and MLA Karam Shyam. Nupi Samaj president Thokchom Ramani led the women leaders who went to submit the representation.
