A landslide occurred on western side of Mini Secretariat Complex, Hamleikhong, Ukhrul on Wednesday.
A resident of Hamleikhong (West) told this correspondent that around 250 feet had been damaged by the landslide. “Three houses were affected badly because of the landslide,” said Wungshungmi K Awungshi, resident of Hamkeikhong (West).
Wungshungmi K Awungshi added that “Occurrence of landslides in this very area has been very regular. Large portion of earth has been given away because of landslides in the past years.”
“Frequent landslides in this portion could pose a great danger for the Mini Secretariat Complex that houses the various important department offices of Ukhrul District. There is an urgent need to set up a retaining wall along the whole stretch of western Hamleikhong of Mini Secretariat Complex, Ukhrul for the safety of everyone,” he added.
