KSO urged the government of Manipur to rectify the mistake and asserted that the Olympian Park is located at S Saheibung and not at Sangaithel as is made out to be.

While lauding the effort of the BJP-led Manipur government in constructing a historic and monumental park called ‘Olympian Park’, the Kuki Students’ Organization (KSO) asserted that the venue of the park has been “wrongly” located in government advertisements through various print and electronic media.
The KSO, Moltam Block stated, “We are compelled to clarify once again that the location of the proposed and newly-inaugurated ‘Olympian Park’ is near S Saheibung in Kangpokpi district and not as published in various print and electronic media by the Government” and added that the sgtate government in its advertisement had wrongly published the location as Sangaithel, Imphel West.
In this regard, the KSO has also questioned the intention of the government and wondered if it was “done deliberately to mislead the public”.
“It is noteworthy that the said proposed park is neither close to Sangaithel Village nor does it fall under Imphal West District. In fact, Sangaithel is about 3 Kms away from the proposed site”, it added.
The student body categorically stated that the said land measuring about 30 acres has been donated and allotted by the then District Commissioner, Manipur North District, HC Mahajan vide Order No. DC (N) 6/44 dated 22nd August 1981 to the Sericulture Department for construction of Sericulture farm. Pursuant to the Allotment Order No. DC(N)6/44 dt. 22/8/81, a Delivery of Possession was made to the Sericulture Department, Government of Manipur by D Thangpum, the then SDC, Sadar Hills West, Kangpokpi vide Memo No. SDO (SW)2/21/81 dt. 03/10/1981. Thus, it is of no doubt that the said land has always been under Sadar Hills West Sub-Division (now Kangpokpi District) and not within Imphal West, as claimed, KSO said.
While appealing to the present BJP-led government and the concerned authorities to stop misleading the public, the student body urged the government to rectify and mention the address of the park as Olympian Park, (Near) S. Saheibung Village, B.P.O. Khoken, P.O. Langjing, P.S. New Keithelmanbi, Kangpokpi District, Manipur-795113, so as to “avoid unnecessary misunderstandings amongst the people of the area”.
KSO also cautioned that failing to rectify the same, the present BJP led government will be held responsible for any untoward incidents that could occur in future and the present government will be considered ‘anti-people’ by the public of the area.
