The proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) Central Committee on Tuesday extended greetings and called for a revolutionary consciousness on the occasion of the 41st foundation day of the party.

In a release, KCP also remembered and paid respect to those leaders who led the party, cadres, armies, and all its comrades. The party also showed its gratitude and revolutionary greetings to all those who helped and gave courage to the party.

The KCP Central Committee also sent its revolutionary greetings and respect to the revolutionary groups of Kangleipak and WESEA.

COVID-19 frontline workers, human rights defenders, Ima Lups, CSOs, intellectuals, media fraternity, environmentalists, those countries and individuals who supported them, and to the people of the state, were also greeted and showed respect by the party in its release.

The proscribed outfit also listed some points to ponder over.

It said Kangleipak used to be an independent state in the South-east Asia. “Our history, traditions, religion and culture were so intertwined with the Hindu mythology that it couldn’t be untangled till date. Our economy, governance, administration, and society is being controlled by others,” claimed the release. ”We are unable to script our own future. We are not free and a revolution for independence is being waged,” it added.

In 1709, King Pamheiba forced his subjects to adopt Ramandi religion. Those who did not comply were killed or deported. On the instructions of Shanti Das Gosai, idols of Sanamahi were destroyed. Several Puyas were burnt and destroyed. Many Umanglai were buried. The name of the land was changed from Kangleipak to Manipur. Not just the land, the names of hills and mountains, lakes, rivers and other sacred places were renamed with Hindu names. Under the patronage of the king, efforts were made to relate the history, religion, culture, etc of the land with Hindu mythology since the early part of the 18th century, the outfit said.

“After Manipur became a part of India in 1949, British education system was introduced in the state under a design by the elites of India for their own interest. Fabricated stories such as — our land used to be called Mekhlidesh; Mahadev created our land; we are descendants of Arjun from Mahabharat; we are Hindu; we belong to Aryan race, etc were being taught in schools and colleges generation after generation. Mandaps and Mandirs were built in the locality and assimilated the indigenous festivals and rituals. People of all age groups were taught about Hindu religion,” it said.

The outfit further said people were made to think that Shree Dham Brindavan, Nabadwip, Jagannath Kshetra, etc are the real holy places. They visited these places in groups. At some point of time, even lands were sold to visit these places. And the trend continues till today. “We began to treat someone else’s history and culture as our own,” it added.

“On the other hand, we began to treat the Indian leaders as God in our hearts. Children were exposed to these things repeatedly. Amongst those educated in mainland India, some have forgotten who they are, after eradicating the “cultural memory” of our society and adopting other’s “cultural values”. Our cultural memory is being erased,” it said.

“The 1891 war of independence, Khongjom war, fought against the British is being treated as part of India’s war of independence. Indian Independence Day and Republic Day are being made to be observed as our own. Our history is being sidelined and substituted by that of India. Now everyone is accepting that we are Indians and no one is bothering about it. “Indianisation” is in full swing.”

The practice in mainland India to Postfix “jee” at the end of someone’s name is being regarded as a respectable trend. Some three-four years ago, in a public function held at Madhavpur Mela (Gujarat) attended by several Indian leaders, a son of the soil who knew the values of the land had even said that all the Northeastern states, including Manipur, had been part of India since the time of Lord Krishna. We are not ashamed of lying to ourselves. We are willingly accepting of being slaves, the outfit said.

“What should be the consequences of being made to believe the lies as truth?”

According to the outfit, the above is very similar to the concept of “Hegemony” based on “false consciousness” of Hegelian Marxist Gramsci. Hegemony is nothing but a design by the “ruling class” to dominate and rule. It is also known as “Cultural leadership”.

It further stated that there is a difference between ruling by using “Legislative” and “Executive Power”, and ruling by Hegemony. In Hegemony, people are willing and do not realise that the “ruling elite” is oppressing them. The “ruling class” is more interested in “Ideological State Apparatus” (ISA) than “Repressive State Apparatus” (RSA).

Under the ISA the “ruling elite” imposes their ideology and way of life to the social values, norms, ethics, and political practice of their subjects, and ultimately assimilated to the ruling class’ “value norms and idea system”. In this manner, the subjects accept the imperialist and begin to support the government instead of opposing it. This is what Gramsci’s Hegemony is all about, it added.

The outfit also argued that all these things are happening in our society. Hegemony is far sighted than the “economic determinist” thought to suppress the subjects by completely controlling the economy and RSA. If a group of people is to be suppressed forever then their consciousness should be controlled. As such, they cannot think about their “class interest” in order to reach “revolutionary consciousness”, since they are living under “false consciousness”.

“Without the revolutionary consciousness, the imperialist does not have any fear of their subject waging war against them.”

The proscribed outfit argued that India knows the need for a “cultural leadership in order to control us completely”. So they have been using ISA to control our consciousness.

The outfit further contended that this is also very similar to Interpellation Theory of the Marxist Louis Althusser. According to the theory in order to rule a group of people, certain ideas need to be introduced into their minds by the ruler. These ideas cannot be introduced forcibly. It needs to be conducted gently using “ideological apparatus” so that it becomes the “absolute truth”.

The state will use the media, education and other ISA for a long period of time in order to achieve it. Under the “false consciousness”, the people will accept it willingly. If it comes full circle, then the ruling elites won’t need “coercive measures” to dominate further. The subjects will continue to support the imperialist.

“Instead of focusing only on ‘economic determinism’, the revolutionary groups focusing on the “subjective aspects” of a revolution are the need of the hour. In other words, there is a need for a “counter-hegemonic movement” to achieve “class consciousness” and “national prestigious consciousness” in order to escape from the trap of “false consciousness”. If we ignore this, then our people might be completely under the “Indian Colonial System” and the fire of the revolution might extinguish forever,” it said.

The outfit also argued that if a revolutionary movement is viewed from this angle then the purpose is to raise the people from “false consciousness” to “revolutionary consciousness”. It is the responsibility of a “revolutionary vanguard”. This was what Lenin meant when he stressed on the need of “professional revolutionaries”. These people need “minimum necessary theoretical knowledge”, like Lenin said. Without this a revolutionary movement won’t be able to elevate the people from “false consciousness” to “revolutionary consciousness”.

The proscribed outfit also stressed on the need to inculcate “theoretical base” to the “regular revolutionary cadres”.
