Justice for Sanaton Athokpam (JSA) on Saturday expressed doubt that the magisterial enquiry instituted by the Manipur Government might not be able to find out the truth about the death of Sanaton.

Reacting to a remark made by chief minister N Biren Singh who reportedly said that the government’s hands are tied as the magisterial enquiry was underway and also urging to wait for the truth about the death to be revealed by the enquiry, JSA convenor Moirangthem Loyalakpa in a release stated that the enquiry was one-sided. No relevant documents have been to the family of the deceased, he added.

No post-mortem report, inquest report, call record, etc have been provided to the family as requested, even though the enquiry is about to be concluded. Due to all these reasons, the JSA is skeptical that the enquiry might not be able to find out the truth, the release stated and drew the attention of CM Biren in finding out the truth.

The release further stated that the shutdown in the Khurai area called by JSA is underway peacefully. Womenfolk and Meira Paibi of Chingarel Tejpur, Sawombung Community Hall, Sawombung Sairem Kabui Khul, Khurai Thangjam Leikai and Kangla Sangsomshangda staged sit-ins on Saturday, it added.
