Jiribam Anti Drugs Cell personnel caught with drugs

A case has been registered under sections 21(b)/22(c)/29 of NDPS Act at Jirighat PS, Assam.

A VDF personnel, posted at Anti Drugs Cell, Jiribam at present, and an individual were arrested along with drugs and other narcotics substances on Saturday. 

The duo has been identified as — VDF personnel, Md Ali Haider (27) a.k.a. Bablu, S/o Nurvi Hussain of Islamabad village, Jiribam, Manipur, and his associate Fariz Uddin Choudhury (30), S/o late Rahamalulla Choudhury of Badripar Part V, Cachar. 

As per sources, at around 12:15 pm on Saturday, a police team led by ASI Faruque Ahmed Barbhuiya of Assam police conducted a check at Kadamtilla Village, PWD Road, under Jirighat PS based on information from sources. At around 2 pm the duo were stopped and the team searched them on suspicion. 

The duo were carrying one bag containing some suspected narcotic drug (powder) in six soap cases, weighing 14 grams each (84 grams in total) and 50 poly packets, containing 200 tablets each (10,000 Yaba tablets in total). The items were seized after getting permission from Lakhipur SDPO. 

A case has been registered under sections 21(b)/22(c)/29 of NDPS Act at Jirighat PS, Assam. 

On the other hand, videos of the duo being thrashed by locals have been circulating on social media platforms.
