Heavy Rains Destroy Paddy Field, Fishery Ponds at Chingjaroi Khullen

The heavy rains that occurred on September 22 night destroyed paddy fields belonging to 79 households, 9 fishery ponds and the ongoing pump reservoir tank construction for water augmentation under NDB funding at Chingjaroi Khullen.

Heavy rain that occured last night creates havoc and destroyed paddy fields belonging to 79 households, 9 fishery ponds and ongoing pump reservoir tank construction for water augmentation under NDB funding at Chingjaroi Khullen, Ukhrul District, Manipur.

RK Thotmathing of Chingjaroi Khullen informed this correspondent that “the heavy rain that occured on September 22 night have completely submerged and washed away many paddy fields belonging to 79 households situated at Kazankhra, Vongze, Alinroh,Taropula and Kashapala area of Chingjaroi Khullen. Around 9 fishery ponds have been washed away by the incessant rain.”

RK. Thotmathing added that “the ongoing pump reservoir tank construction for water augmentation under NDB funding at Philanshi, Chingjaroi Khullen has also been affected due to landslide because of the incessant rain.”

Major damages were caused by the huge volume of water from the river Rangatak Kong which originates from Phungcham and flows towards Chingjaroi Khullen. Villagers have demanded the concerned authority to look into their grievances at the earliest.
