Governor La Ganesan visited Thoubal and Kakching District Headquarters on Thursday to acquaint with the people and know the culture and tradition of the area. In connection with the Governor’s visit, Thoubal and Kakching District Administration organised a function at the Deputy Commissioner Office Complex, Thoubal.
A. Subhas Singh, IAS, DC, Thoubal and D. Gangmei, IAS, DC, Kakching District made power-point presentations of the activities and achievements taken up by the Thoubal District Administration and Kakching District Administration respectively.
Speaking at the function as chief guest, the governor greeted the people in local language and urged them to make a Victory sign as a habit for some time to show fellow people that he or she has been vaccinated twice.
He said that people can meet with each other if they made the sign without any hesitation. He further appealed to those general public who are yet to get vaccinated to be vaccinated in order to prevent this dreaded disease. He added that the Government is making relentless efforts to vaccinate and cooperation from the general public is quite mandatory at this critical juncture to return to normalcy.
Stressing on the various aspects of the health department, the Governor said that cleanliness is the most important thing in maintaining good health. Talking about the achievement of free open defecation, the governor urged the stakeholders to work towards achieving the feat not only in the city areas but also in all the districts of the state.
Appreciating the work of the police department in fighting against smuggling of illegal products in the state and other related cases, the governor told the police officials to report the number of cases they have taken up to show their activities in detail.
He further said that all the District Level Officers should endeavour to keep the whole District clean and green by strengthening the existing forest cover and also by developing new green cover in the district.
An interaction session with District Level Officers, Civil Society Organisations, entrepreneurs and students was also conducted during the gathering. After hearing the suggestions and demands put up during the session by the CSOs and the students, the governor assured that he will try to fulfil the demands as much as possible.
The programme was attended by M Tombimacha Singh, National Teacher Awardee, as President of the function; Officials and staffs of Thoubal and Kakching District Headquarters.
The Governor also visited Khongjom War Memorial Complex, Thoubal District and offered floral tributes to the heroes of the Anglo-Manipur Conflict of 1891. Later he visited Kakching Garden at Kakching District as part of his visit to the district headquarters.
