The Congress on Wednesday came down heavily on BJP president A Sharda Devi for wrongly interpreting Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president N Loken Singh’s statement given at an event at Konthoujam. The MPCC had never said that the youth of the state has gone insane, it said.

Speaking to media persons at a press conference held at the Reishang Keishing Media Center, Congress Bhawan, MPCC general secretary Tilotama alleged that the BJP is known for misleading the people to meet its political end. The BJP president has exposed the dirty politics of BJP by misinterpreting statements of the MPCC president out of context to mislead the people, she added.

She clarified that the MPCC president was highlighting concerns of the youth who have become mentally unrest and unstable due to the regressive policies implemented by the BJP especially during the Covid lockdown.

She challenged the BJP to jointly conduct a survey along with medical professionals to find out how far the people are satisfied during this pandemic scenario and also to find out how far MPCC president is right regarding the youth anxiety and restlessness.

Tilotama alleged that since the BJP came to power, they did not launch a single scheme or policy particularly for the youth, women and children with proper implementation.

She said that when asked what developmental works have been done, the BJP government replied that they are doing startups, “Vocal for Local”, Skill development etc. Most of the schemes were conceptualized during the UPA regime, she added.

Skill Development programme is a well-planned scheme for the benefit of the youth. Poor implementation has spoiled the scheme and the results are not up to the expectation, she said.
