Former MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency and Former Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS), Government of Manipur, Aza A Shimray passed away on Sunday while on his way to the hospital. He was elected as MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency from INC in 2002.

Former MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency and Minister of YAS, Aza A Shimray of Chingjaroi CV passed away this morning. A doctor at the Ukhrul District Hospital informed this correspondent that he was “brought dead” at 11:10 am to the hospital.

The District Hospital authority informed that they had sent their ambulance to pick him up. The ambulance met him near Phugcham and he was being transported back to the hospital for treatment. But he passed away before reaching the hospital and was declared brought death.

It is learnt that Aza A Shimray was in his native village for the Christmas and New Year celebration. He was feeling unwell, so their families had decided to take him to the hospital.

MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency, Khashim Vashum while conveying his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and friends stated that he wa “deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden demise of Former MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency, Oja Aza A Shimray, one of the most inspiring leader of our time. A leader, who is adored and respected by all. Having left a great legacy, in you we have lost a sensible and a charismatic politician. Always an honour to represent and serve the constituency you have loved so much.”

Family members informed that condolences service was held at 6:00 pm at his residence at Wino Bazaar, Ukhrul and his mortal remains will be taken back to his native village on early Monday and laid to rest.
