Three-day Tamenglong College Annual Sports Meet, 2022 concluded on 30th April, 2022 with a valedictory function. The sports event, which was inaugurated on 28th April by Tamenglong SDO Rohit Anand, IAS, was organised by dividing students into four houses of Eagle, Falcon, Hornbill and Phoenix. In the sports meet, Falcon House emerged the overall Champion and Eagle House Runners up. The winners were given the prizes and certificates.
In his speech Anand said Tamenglong youth has sports talent and huge potential. Youth and students of the district should be supported to participate at the state, national and international levels.
Tamenglong College Principal Dr. N Daimei urged the students to take advantages of the Sports Meet held for the first time after Covid pandemic. He also highlighted the importance of sports and extra-curricular activities in the National Education Policy, 2020.
According to Namsurei Thomas Kamei Coordinator, Tamenglong College Annual Sports Meet, the four houses are named after the birds with sense of preserving environment and birds. Each house was led by two Captains one boy and one girl with two teacher-in-charges.
The outdoor games were football, volleyball, 100 metre and 400 relay metre race, high jump, long jump, shot-put and tug of the war. The indoor games were carrom, chess, badminton and table tennis. In all the games both boys and girls participated and competitions were between the four houses.
The house captains took the responsibility of selecting the participants from respective houses for each game. The teachers in charges guide and help the captains and participants in the competitions. All the outdoor games were held on the College playground which is surrounded by green trees.
The indoor games were held in Indoor Stadium and Multipurpose Hall of the College. There were keen competitions among the participants and between the four houses.
