Fake news of Padma Bhusan Dr SC Jamir’s death goes viral

When contacted, his daughter Asenla Jamir, a retired director, SIRD, Nagaland rubbished such information as fake news. She confirmed to this correspondent that her father was “fit, fine and healthy”

Veteran politician and five times Nagaland chief minister, and also the former Governor of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, and Odisha, Padma Bhusan, Dr SC Jamir, was reportedly “pronounce dead” at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in social media circles since Sunday evening.

The rumour of the demise of the nonagenarian politician, SC Jamir (91) went viral in social media for a while. When contacted, his daughter , a retired director, SIRD, Nagaland, Asenla Jamir rubbished such information as fake news. She confirmed to this correspondent that her father was “fit, fine and healthy” as they were together at the latter’s residence at Chumumukedima on Saturday. She added that Dr Jamir also attended the wedding of Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio’s daughter on November 11 at Sovima.

Former Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), and politician, C Apok Jamir, has also rubbished the fake news about his father’s demise.

Meanwhile, in a video which has been uploaded, the Padma Bhusan recipient in 2020, for his work in public affairs, has informed to the citizens of Nagaland and beyond that by Almighty’s grace, he continues to maintain a very good health till date. He later added that it was very unfortunate that “some people” had a “canard” about him which was totally false.
