Cultural Cum Indigenous Day of Raphei observed

The rich and vibrant culture of Raphei was presented through folk songs and folk dance by various units of Raphei Katamnao Long at the ongoing 56th General Conference cum Sports, Cultural and Literary Meet 2022 at Langdang.

Member of Parliament (MP), Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba attended the Cultural cum Indigenous Day of Raphei Katamnao Long as Chief Guest and unveiled the monolith at Langdang on Sunday.
Speaking at the occasion, Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba appealed for forgiveness to the congregation for not being on time. “I was late because I had to attend another programme.”
Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba stated “I am pleased to witness the various folk songs and folk dances being performed by the various units of Raphei Katamnao Long. Indeed, they are very beautiful and invaluable”.
“In this fast changing world, we should be aware of one thing and that is our identity. We should earnestly strive to preserve and promote our traditional custom, culture and practices. We must promote and keep alive our culture, our folklores and historical facts should be thoroughly researched and preserved for the coming generations. Whoever we are and what ever we may be, our culture is our identity. Without our identity we as a people will not exist”, said the MP.
The Local Organising Committee of Langdang submitted a memorandum to Hon’ble MP for construction of Youth Office cum Guest House at Langdang under MP Fund. No announcement has been made because of the enforcenbet of model code of conduct. However, Hon’ble MP assured the villagers that he would look into their request.
Social Worker and MLA intending candidate from 1- Khundrakpam AC,  Nongthombam Rajendra who was supposed to be the functional president of the day could not attend the programme because of announcement of model code of conduct. However, he send his message and best wishes to the RKL, Local Organising Committee and Langdang Village.
The Cultural cum Indigenous Day of Raphei was  also attended by Former Chairman ADC- Ukhrul, Dickson Kamkara, Former ADC Member, R. Lawrence Tuizar, Chief Finance Officer (TA and Hills) Ramnganing Zimik (MFS), Treasury Officer Ukhrul, Ningreingam Shimrah (MFS), Commanding Officer, 84 RCC, Abishek Goel and Assistant General Manager RBI Imphal, Achan Sharon as guests of honour.
