COVID-19 situation getting worse, Manipur reports highest single day spike since beginning of pandemic

Active cases in the state have surged to 8,210, out of which 3,323 individuals are in home isolation and 2,328 are in Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC). The grand total of admitted patients is 2,287 and the number of beds available is 1,951.

Amidst the growing concern over the COVID-19 pandemic situations in the state, Manipur on Wednesday reported the highest single day spike since the beginning of the pandemic with 1,104 new cases. The total number of infections in the state has now reached 80,521. 

With 7,594 tests, the positivity rate stood at 14.54 per cent.  

In the last 24 hours, the State Level Covid 19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 17 COVID-19 deaths, taking the death toll to 1,326. The dreaded disease claimed four individuals each from Churachandpur and Imphal West, three each from Bishnupur and Imphal East, and one each from Thoubal, Kakching and Tengnoupal. 

Imphal West reported the majority of the new cases with 366, followed by Imphal East, Thoubal and Churachandpur with 195, 108 and 102 new cases. The other positive cases from the general population are — 80 from Kakching, 67 from Bishnupur, 66 from Tamenglong, 33 from Noney, 32 from Senapati, 12 from Kangpokpi, 10 from Chandel, nine from Tengnoupal, six each from Ukhrul and Jiribam, and one from Kamjong..

As per the COVID-19 Common Control Room, Government of Manipur, the number of patients as on July 13 admitted or adjusted against available bed strengths in different treatment facilities in the state are — RIMS (213 out of 224), JNIMS (231 out if 286), I Land Hospital (30 out of 60), District Covid Facilities (140 out of 332), MSF (29 out of 30), Private Covid Hospitals (227 out of 360) and CCCS (1417 out of 2946). The grand total of admitted patients is 2,287 and the number of beds available is 1,951. 

On Wednesday, 583 persons were discharged from — Home Isolation (179), RIMS (8), JNIMS (5), CCCs (170) and CHICs (221). The recovery rate is 88.15 per cent. 

On Tuesday, 31,086 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered in the state. So far, 9,21,729 doses have been administered, out of which 8,22,355 are first dose and 99,374 are second dose.
