CorCom mourns demise of RPF president Chaoren

With his untimely demise, RPF, Manipur and WESEA region have lost a great leader and shared the sorrow and pain experienced by family members and the party, said a statement issued by the Publicity Committee, CorCom.

CorCom, the conglomerate of proscribed armed outfits in Manipur, has mourned the demise of the banned Revolutionary People’s Front’s (RPF) President Irengbam Chaoren, also known as Bhorot on February 10.

In a press statement, CorCom said that Chaoren was a “revolutionary leader” who served the cause of restoring Manipur’s lost sovereignty and freedom of WESEA region.

CorCom stated that its political and military leaders, workers, officers, NCOs and all others paid deep respect and highest regard for this great leader apart from mourning his demise.

Chaoren was born on Saturday, November 2, 1957 at Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai to Irengbam Ibomcha and Tongbram Ningol Jamuna. He was the eldest of three siblings. Respected revolutionary leader Chaoren was the president of RPF since 1990 and shouldered the same responsibility till he breathed his last, said CorCom in a condolence message.

The proscribed conglomerate also pointed out that Chaoren was a leader who acknowledged the need for a joint front of all peoples of Manipur and WESEA and strongly believed in establishing a coordinated struggle. Thereafter, he was one of the signatory members of Manipur People’s Liberation Front (MPLF) in 1999 and was the first convenor of the Coordinating Committee (CorCom) that was established in 2011. And from 2017 till his last day, Chaoren shouldered the responsibility of being the convener, said CorCom.

“He was a true revolutionary leader with a simple heart but possessing high ideals and lived a life without dark spots in his character”, pointed out CorCom. He always smiled, rarely expressed anger and was a disciplined person, he knew how to cordially interact with his fellow revolutionaries and was a leader who never wavered on his conviction, said CorCom.
