“May this day bring love, peace and harmony and improve the relationship between the hills and the valleys as this festival cuts all religious and racial divisions. May this day embark unity in the minds of the people forgetting all the differences in the past and bring forth a new Manipur that we all dreamed of,” stated a message by IPFM president and social worker Ashang Kasar.

Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) and Indigenous People’s Forum, Manipur (IPFM) extended wishes on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakouba to be held on Saturday.

Let’s strive together to preserve this tradition, it added.

On the other hand, wishing the Ningols of the state on the occasion which is held annually on the second day of the Meitei month of Hiyanggei, CADA urged the people to develop a healthy society by consuming healthy foods.

Let this festival reaffirm the bond of brothers and sisters and amongst all the communities of the state, CADA said in a message.

Stating that the festival has been losing its essence by converting it into a race of gifts, CADA underscored the need to bring back the true essence of the festival — the purest bond of brothers and sisters.

CADA also urged the youths not to use any intoxicants on the joyous occasion.
