Taking a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party, which had taunted former chief minister Okram Ibobi as Mr 10%, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president N Loken said the present BJP-led government in the state has turned out to be 40% one. Such a highly corrupted party should not be voted to power again, he added.

Speaking at a political conference held as part of inauguration of a community hall at Nambol Ishok by Ishok Makha Apunba Community Hall Committee, Loken asserted the O Ibobi-led government which had ruled the state for 15 years has initiated several development projects. However, the present BJP-led government has not done anything in the last four and half years except inaugurating and taking credit for those projects initiated by the then O Ibobi government, he said. The BJP which had called Ibobi Mr 10% has become 40% corrupted, he added.

Stating that the BJP has presented a 10-point vision document before the 2017 election, the MPCC president alleged the contents of the vision document cannot be translated into action till today. He accused the BJP-led government of bribery in the ongoing recruitment processes, including IRB. Many unemployed youths are in distress as all the recruitment processes are left incomplete after taking huge bribes. The BJP must be held responsible if these youths go into depression, he added.

Maintaining that the BJP is privatizing all government’s assets/undertakings, he said that in Manipur too, Imphal International Airport has been privatized. As a result, many existing employees are facing retrenchment. The BJP, which has promised employment to youth, will leave many employed youths in the lurch, he added.

The MPCC president further said that the BJP had promised to curb corruption in its vision document. No action has been taken against those who indulged in multi-crore corruption, he said. Alleging BJP’s pre-poll promises to provide tap-water to every household and build houses for the poor are lying unfulfilled, he said the BJP is not a trustworthy party and urged the people not to believe it.
