Brajabidhu is the 7th COVID-19 victim among the former MLAs of the state.

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, Manipur, Ex MLA Welfare Association and MLA Karam Shyam, amongst others condoled the demise of former minister W Brajabidhu Singh who passed away on Sunday at Shija Hospital due to COVID complications.
In a message, MPCC president Govindas Konthoujam said that MPCC is engulfed in deep sorrow and sadness at the sudden demise of Congress leader and former minister W. Brajabidhu Singh.
He began his political career as a grassroot Congress worker in 1970. He represented Lamshang Assembly Constituency as a Congress MLA in 2002, 2007 and 2012. During this period, he served as a minister in-charge of Minor Irrigation & CADA from 2002 to 2005.
W. Brajabidhu Singh was a committed social worker, a true friend of the poor, an entrepreneur and a political stalwart who worked tirelessly for the people. He had a firm belief that development could take place only when the grassroot people fully participated in the programme designed for their benefits, the message said.
“His untimely demise is an irreparable loss not only for the Congress Party but also for the whole State of Manipur. In recognition of his sacrifice and dedication, the party flag remains half-mast as a symbol of respect to the departed Congress leader. At this hour of grief and sorrow I on behalf of the Congress Party solemnly share the pain and pang of the bereaved family,” Govindas said in the message.
The Manipur Ex. MLA Welfare Association in a message conveyed heartfelt condolence and wished that his soul rest in peace. He is the 7th COVID-19 victim among the Ex. MLAs of the state, the message said.
It also mentioned that condolence meetings and extending of association grants would be performed when normalcy returns at Manipur Legislative Assembly Ex. MLAs room, Chingmeirong.
MLA Karam Shyam, in a message, described the late minister as a cool, kind hearted and resourceful leader. It would be an irreparable loss of the state. My deepest thoughts and prayers are with the family members of the departed soul. May his soul rest in peace, he added.
