Loukrakpam Memthoi of Takyel Kolom Leikai on Wednesday clarified that she had nothing to do with the objection by the Depressed Widow Foundation over the entry to a plot of land at Takyel Kolom Leikai for eviction. She also said that the eviction by the authority was conducted with the approval of the owner of the land and her. The video of the eviction went viral on Tuesday on Social media.

Speaking to media persons at Sagolband Moirang Hanuba, Memthoi said that the Depress Widow Foundation objected to the eviction of her previous house at Takyel Kolom Leikai by an order of the Imphal West DC. She said that she has nothing to do with the objection and has no relation in any way.

Memthoi said that she has been staying in the plot of land, which was sold off by her late husband Loukrakpam Rajen to Khumbongmayum (O) Ranamayi of Sagolband Ingudam Leikai, for the last many years. She was let to stay there on humanity grounds, she added.

Memthoi further said that the plot of land was sold off to another individual by Ranamayi with her consent. She said that she willingly shifted from it and accordingly the Imphal West DC conducted the eviction on Tuesday. So there is no controversy over the plot of land, she added.

Former general secretary of the Youth Progressive Club, Takyel Kolom Leikai L Kanta appealed to all the organisations not to interfere in the eviction since it was done with the owner of the land and Memthoi. He also informed that the family members of Ranamayi had approached the local club when he was a general secretary about buying the land.

He further said that three years ago the family members of Ranamayi had informed Memthoi to leave the house, where she has been let to stay for the last 20 years. But Memthoi and her children have been let to stay there on humanitarian grounds and in view of her economic condition. He also urged the public not to portray the matter in bad lights on social media.
