Portfolios allocated, Nagaland gets woman cabinet minister, two Deputy Chief Ministers

Neiphiu Rio, record 5 times tenure as chief minister of Nagaland, will also hold additional charges including Finance, P&AR, all important policy issues and other all portfolios not allotted to any ministers or MLAs.

For the first time in the history of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), a woman candidate of the NDPP, Salhoutonuo Kruse, has been inducted into the the 14th NLA under the chief ministership of Neiphiu Rio.

The state on Thursday saw its governor, La Sanesan, on the advice of Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, allocating different portfolios to the other 59 elected members to the 14th NLA.
According to a communique issued by the Nagaland cabinet secretary, J Alam, the business of the government was taken under the provisions of the Rule 5(1) of the Rules of Executive Business of Nagaland.
According to the communique, Rio who will be in his record 5 times tenure as chief minister of Nagaland will also hold additional charges including Finance, P&AR, all important policy issues and other all portfolios not allotted to any ministers or MLAs.

The historic two deputy chief ministers, TR Zeliang will hold the charge of planning and transformation, National Highway, while Patton along his previous deputy chief minister has also once again retained the posts of Home minister and Border Affairs.
The other nine cabinets in the Neiphiu Rio led NDPP-BJP alliance in Nagaland included veteran politician G Kaito Aye with cabinet berth of Road and Bridges, Jacob Zhimomi (PHE and Cooperation), KG Kenye (power and parliamentary affairs), P Paiwang Konyak (Health and Family Welfare), Metsubo Jamir (Rural development and SIRD, Temjen Imna Along (Tourism and Higher Education), CL John (Forest, Environment and Climate change, Village Guards), the lone female cabinet minister was entrusted with women resources development and horticulture departments. P Bashamongba Chang was given the berth as minister for housing and mechanical engineering.

Meanwhile, the other remaining MLAs of the 14th NLA to take charges of different departments.
