Bijili Mahotsav, Ujala Diwas Celebrated at Paorei Village, Ukhrul district

Paorei villagers requested the visiting team to replaced the old electric pole and provide additional pole and also appeal for replacment of the existing naked wire of LT by cable wire at the earliest.

As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India in association with Government of Manipur celebrated Bijili Mahotsav and Ujala Diwas at Paorei Village, Ukhrul District, Manipur on Thursday.

Attending the celebration as Chief Guest, SDO of Chingai Block, Sher Singh stated that “in the earlier days, there were frequent load shedding in Manipur and people were reeling under darkness most of the time. But today, we are getting power supply more than 20 hours in a day. All the villages have been electrified and we are glad to learnt that pre-paid mater have been installed at every household of Paorei village. Knowing the importance of power in our day to day life, let us use judiciously.”

Senior Manager of NHPC, Ram Manuj Kumar stated that “as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India in association with Government of Manipur celebrated Bijili Mahotsav and Ujala Diwas to showcase the unique change in the life of people and the significant improvement in the last 8 years.”

DGM of MSPDCL Ukhrul, Akui L Shimray stated that “in the earlier days, we use to get power supply for fee hours on a day and in an alternate days. However, we are getting power supply regularly. Increase in use of power. We have upgraded the transformer and installed in various places to strengthen the supply of power. Hence there is an improvement in the supply of power.”

Chairman of VDC Paorei Village, Robust Pheirei stated that “every household in our village has been connected with power supply and pre-paid meter have been installed. We have a request to the concerned authority to kindly replaced the old electric pole which are on the verge of collapse due to erosion and provide additional electric pole and also replaced the existing naked wire of LT by cable wire at the earliest.”

Villagers also reminded the Department about the shortage of linesmen in the area. They claimed that the villagers have been doing the clearance of jungle and repairing of fallen electric pole and urged the visiting team to appoint linesmen for the area.
