Patton’s recent reference to the urgency of bringing about a “solution” to the protracted Naga political issue had given ample hints at what the UDA leaders would be discussing with national leaders in New Delhi.

Top United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leaders – Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, deputy chief minister Y Patton, UDA chairperson TR Zeliang and UDA co-chairman and NPF legislature party leader Azo Nienu met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday.
The leaders are also members of the core committee of the parliamentary committee on Naga political issue.
In a tweet, deputy chief minister Y Patton said that the leaders had “the pleasure of meeting Hon’ble Union Home Minister in Delhi and discuss with him a number of issues”

The meeting is believed to have discussed key issues pertaining to the Naga political imbroglio and the possibility of an early “solution”, preferably before the coming assembly elections scheduled for February 2023.
It may be mentioned that on May 14, speaking at the Central Naga Tribes Council (CNTC) convention in Wokha, Patton is reported to have stated, “Our number one agenda should be how to solve the Naga political issue,” said Patton. “Those who do not want a solution, go to Hell,” he added.
The deputy chief minister added, “But we are not getting it (the solution) because of whom? …Since we are meeting our Prime Minister, Home Minister tomorrow, along with my Chief Minister…I going to say it as it is, and I will do so tomorrow also, if can’t find a solution, impose President’s Rule…enough is enough…I am speaking for the Nagas,”
