Report of sudden and unusual deaths of buffaloes once again resurface at New Tusom village, bordering Indo-Myanmar Pillar No 128 and 129. The same disease has killed many buffaloes in 2021.
As per information made available to this correspondent, around 8 death bodies of buffaloes have been identified and some are still missing. Villagers are on the lookout for their respective buffaloes. The death of buffaloes are being reported from Reisavahn area near Challou river.
As per report recieved, Agarso Horam and Ninglum Horam have lost two buffaloes each. Somathan Vashum, Daniel Angkang and Matuiching Horam have lost one buffaloes each and one belonging to unidentified owner.
It is worth mentioning that in September 2021, the same disease has killed many buffaloes in the border area of New Tusom. Former secretary of New Tusom Village Authority, Agar Horam recalled that “even in 2021 we have fervently appealed to the concerned authority for immediate intervention to save our livestock. But there was no positive response from the concerned department.” He informed that blood could be seen oozing out from nose and the stool mix with blood.
New Tusom villagers have appealed to the concerned department for immediate intervention to save their livestock. There is fear and apprehension among the villager that the disease might spread to neighbouring villages.
