Women outperform men in terms of productivity and in endurance, said Kaisa Rio, the wife of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

Along with the rest of the world, Nagaland also joined in celebrating the international day of women on Tuesday with a voice for gender “equality” without any bias.
Coinciding with the celebration, a programme organized by the Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW), and in collaboration with Nagaland State Resource Centre for Women, was held at Japfu Christian College, Kigwema, wherein Kaisa Rio, wife of Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio was the guest speaker.
Highlighting that “Gender Equality” has been the theme of United Nation for International Women’s Day this year for a “Sustainable Tomorrow”, Kaisa was also concerned about the “climatic crisis” and “gender inequality” which according to her are the two issues at the core of the UN Sustainable Goals.
Informing that figures have indicated that 80 percent of the people displaced by climate change disasters are women including 70 percent of the 1.3 billion people living in poverty are women, she said the issues are intertwined for which she encouraged the same for global a sustainable and gender equality efforts to go hand and hand.
Characterizing that studies have shown that women outperform men in terms of productivity and in endurance, Kaisa Rio mentioned that even in a state, girls have been repeatedly outperforming boys in scholastic exams for several years.
She later encouraged the women to work “twice” as hard to achieve the desired goals while also adding that “gender equality” be promoted in towns, villages, Churches, and homes.
“It is not only a fundamental human right but a prerequisite to building a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable society,” Kaisa Rio further said.
Following the celebration, NSCW Awards 2022 were conferred to five women of the state for their exemplary work and the services rendered in different fields which included Zhonelü Tunyi, Kevinourheno Seyie, Yomah Konyak, Imdanglemla Aier, and L. Dorothy Chang.
