Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU) has urged organisations not to issue any statement in connection with the university without informing it.

In a press conference held at MUSU office in Manipur University campus on Monday, its president Maibam Maikel said MUSU exists for the progress of the university and helps in resolving all the issues that may affect the academic atmosphere through dialogue. “Anyone can approach MUSU to resolve any controversy, address grievances and correct the mismanagement. MUSU’s door remains wide open to organisations as well,” he added.

Urging the organizations to stop the habit of going to the media for any issue without proper enquiry, he said instead we can sit together to correct the issue beforehand.

Maibam Maikel further said the university students who contested MUSU election used to get final registration for PhD in Manipur University within a short period, other students could not get registration and their chances of PhD enrolment also remain bleak. Now many started questioning whether all PhD aspirants should contest student union elections to get registration. MUSU and MU Authority are discussing the issue and trying to address it, he added.
