Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), Sumi Region have opposed the NSCN (I-M)’s call for a total shutdown of shops and commercial establishments.

With the NSCN (I-M) calling for total closure of all shops and business establishments in Nagaland starting August 1 midnight till August 3 afternoon to protest against the Government of India (GoI) for keeping silent on the “Framework Agreement (FA)” even after six years, a “confusion” has erupted in the state as business bodies and others have voiced their resentments against the outfit’s directives.
According to a directive issued to District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) by the
Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) Vice-Chairman, Abenthung Ngullie, and General Secretary, Dr Seyievilie, on Monday, a confusion has been created on the closure of business establishments on August 3.
However, the CNCCI officials said that its office has not received any such “letter or intimidation” or request for closure of whole of the business establishments in Nagaland from any corner.
Moreover, as per the consultation with the District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) (Confederate), there has been consensus that there should be business as usual on August 3 for which the district chamber has been directed not to be confused but to conduct business as usual, the CNCCI added.
Meanwhile, Chairmen of the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), Sumi Region, comprising of seven groups—GPRN/NSCN, NSCN/GPRN (K), NSCN/GPRN (R), UNPG (PB), NPGN-NNC, FGN, and NNC/GDRN, during their joint sitting on Monday deliberated on the issue pertaining to the closure of shops on account of the “Framework Agreement” directed by the NSCN (I-M).
According to a press statement, the seven NNPGs of the Sumi Region agreed to oppose the “principles” proposed by NSCN (I-M) under Sumi Region for which it has informed to all the commercial shops under Sumi Region to remain open as usual on August 3 failing which, the concerned shop owners would be held solely responsible leading to “closure of shops permanently”.
