Manipur police on Wednesday detained 99 persons and a fine of Rs 40,400 was collected.

Ukhrul District police are strictly enforcing the ongoing ten days total curfew that has been imposed from July 18, 2021.
Speaking to this correspondent, additional SP of Ukhrul, Ringthing Hongchui stated that Ukhrul police has been “getting maximum cooperation from the public and CSOs. We would like to thank all the people and the CSOs, who have been participating in different capacities and in different ways in enforcing total curfew.”
Ringthing Hongchui urged the public as well as different stakeholders to continue supporting Ukhrul police in enforcing the lockdown, ‘so that we can mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and control the spread of the virus”. He added “without your cooperation it would have been very difficult for the Police Department to enforce this lockdown. Thank you for your cooperation.”
Volunteers from each locality of Ukhrul Town are also helping in enforcing the total curfew. Awareness on COVID-19 vaccination is being organised at different places and people are turning up for vaccination at Ava Market from 10:00 am to 04:00 pm.
Meanwhile, the Police Department continues to crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the state government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 Pandemic, including failure to wear masks in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, etc., to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus in the state.
During the drive on Wednesday, 99 persons were detained and released later after a warning. Further, altogether fined a sum of Rs 40,400, as per law, as per a release by Manipur police.
The Police Department also warned that those who violate the guidelines and restrictions shall be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
