Imphal West SP S Ibomcha Singh warned against using social media platforms in such illegal and immoral activities

In a major breakthrough in the case regarding the obnoxious Facebook group titled “Kanglei Imagi…”, Imphal West police and Cyber Crime Police Station arrested 16 persons, including three juveniles.
Imphal West SP S Ibomcha Singh briefed media persons at the conference hall of Imphal West SP office, Lamphelpat on Thursday.
Ibomcha informed that on June 12, an FIR was registered at Imphal Police Station (Ref FIR No: 90(6)2021 IPS U/S 153-A 1(b)/354-D (ii)/509 IPC & 4/6 IRN Act 1986 added 34 IPC) against one Facebook group created by one Yumnam Piba (user profile) titled as “Kanglei Imagi…”.
During the course of investigation, it was also learnt that members of the Facebook page created several WhatsApp groups and members of the Facebook group and the WhatsApp groups uploaded and share obscene, vulgar, pornographic, private photos and videos of several women, including minors, on both Social media and WhatsApp with the intention to insult the modesty of women and also creating enmity and conflict and terror in the mind of the general public, he added.
Another FIR No 91(6)2021 IPS U/S 354-D(ii)IPC & 67-A/67-B IT Act was also registered at Imphal Police Station against the sharing of pornographic materials in Whatsapp group (Fire ball logo) and the admin of this group namely Kanchui Mangkung (27) S/O (L) Jonathan M of Sorbung village Kamjong District was arrested on June 14 and remanded into judicial custody.
The Imphal West SP further said that the undernoted persons were identified and picked up for being members of the incriminating Facebook group and WhatsApp group and participating in furtherance of common intention to outrage the modesty of women and demean them as a whole.
The arrested accused persons by Imphal PS are — Konjengbam Arunkumar Singh @Franky Gaming (29) S/O K Mani Singh of Kwakeithel Lamdong Leikai, Victor Sorokhaibam a.k.a. Ngongo (28) S/O S Chaoba Singh of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, Khuraijam Surjakanta a.k.a Dhoko Singh (28) S/O (L) Kh Binod Singh Of Singjamei Chinga mathak, Solbam Singhajit (28) S/O S Jugindro Singh of Singda Kadangban Part-1, Oinam Nanao Singh (33) S/O (L) O Haimo Singh of Top Moirang Kampu, Thokchom Lanchenba Meitei (18) S/O Th Gopiramon Meitei of Lamboi Khongnangkhong Emoinu Sangleng Leirak, Kanchui Mangkung (27) S/O (L) Jonathan M of Sorbung village Kamjong, and one juvenile.
At the same time Cyber Crime Police Station/ CID (CB) Manipur also registered two FIRs against the Facebook group and against the sharing of pornographic materials in Whatsapp group respectively in c/w FIR No 19(6)2021 CCPS U/S: 294/509/34 IPC & 57A R/W 67b IT Act against the sharing of pornographic in Whatsapp groups.
Ibomcha informed that the Cyber Crime PS has so far arrested eight accused persons, including two juveniles. Also the account creator of the MEGA cloud account where many pornographic materials including child pornographic materials are stored has also been arrested.
The arrested accused persons by Cyber Crime PS are — Konjengbam Karorchandra khaba (27) S/O K Ibotombi khaba of Ward No-8 Kongkham Makha Leikai Nambol, Abujam Shatyajit Singh (27) S/O A Manaoton Singh of Changangei Maning Leikai, Elangbam Birjit Meitei (26) S/O E Bijenkumar Meitei of Irilbung Kalika Imphal East, Aribam Bonny Sharma (34) S/O (L) A Sanahal Sharma of Keishamthong Ahanthem Leikai, Mingchatlen Laishram (22) S/O L Raikumar Singh of Wangkei Tokpam Leikai, Angom Roshan Singh (28) S/O (L) A Heramot Singh of Sekmaijing Thonagm Leikai, and two juveniles.
The newly posted Imphal West SP also warned against using social media platforms in such illegal and immoral activities. He also informed that the hunt for Yumnam Piba is still on and added that every member of the Facebook and WhatsApp group will be interrogated in connection with the case.
