WCCM observes World Folklore Day

Formed on May 26, 2019, We Can Change Manipur (WCCM) aims to find an answer on how a youth can participate in parliament, politics and governance.

Commemorating the World Folklore Day, We Can Change Manipur (WCCM) planted trees on Sunday at Thawai Hou (Art and Event Space) Heibongpokpi, Manipur. The group’s first physical general body meeting was also conducted on the occasion. 

WCCM secretary Binita Pukhrambam said that the tree plantation was done to preserve and protect the flora and fauna of the state. 

She maintained that in order to become a vigilant citizen, reading is very important and to understand what the government is doing. 

Founder chairman of the group, Marjing Mayanglambam informed that WCCM was formed on May 26, 2019, with an aim to find an answer on how a youth can participate in parliament, politics and youth governance. 

“Initially, WCCM was interested only in youth politics but presently, focus is also given to promote and preserve literature, media, arts, artforms. Our plan is to participate in social activism as a neutral platform to fight against discrimination, inequality and work against negative extremity in any fields, and to conduct anti-social element eradication as a responsible youth,” he said. 

An oath taking ceremony was also conducted for the executive members of WCCM. 

Renowned folk singer, Mangka Mayanglambam also participated the event.
