Villagers protest move to convert school to dry cleaner unit

The villagers  are worried that the proposed dry cleaner in school and residential area will pollute the surrounding area and affect the health of locals, women and children.

Residents of Mayaikoibi Ningthoujam Leikai around L.P School and Leikai Lampak, including  children and women have protested against the ongoing move to convert the LP School to dry cleaner and multi -laundry industry unit without the consultation and consent of villagers. 
The protest took place in front of LP School and Lampak on Sunday and called for recognizing the voices and opinion of women and children in Mayaikoibi Ningthoujam Leikai.

The villagers  are worried that the proposed dry cleaner in school and residential area will pollute the surrounding area and affect the health of locals, women and children. Children’s free play in the lampak, community ground will also be affected.

Children are also worried of their safety and security as well.

The protesting villagers called to protect the community ground and Lampak for education and children’s play and not to use the school for private industry to benefit private individuals.
