The Federation of Thinglhaangmi on Wednesday expressed “stern disapproval” of the recent vandalisation of a car of a pilgrim to Mt Koubru.

The federation in a release, said that the people of the area do not engage in such misdeeds, and alleged that it is but an “atrocious act to malign the image” of the people in the area of Mt Koubru.

It also contended that the whole issue was nothing but a “drama” to enrage innocent people, and to instil hate and prejudice against another community. It is indeed extremely unfortunate that such extreme steps should be taken up simply to encourage and advocate for “violence and war,” it added.

“The federation stands firm to denounce any degree of accusations. As such, the act of vandalisation is simply staged with a devilish intention to mislead the people towards hatred and enmity, to feed communal tension in the minds of the people, and to encourage suspicion and violence against communities,” the release stated.

Staring that without evidence the miscreants are unknown, the federation also asserted that nobody should point fingers at others so as to avoid any “conflict on communal lines”.

The federation also urged any responsible organisation, group of people, or an individual, to refrain from taking up such extreme measures that can lead to chaos and unrest for the state as a whole.

The federation is respecting the alleged agreement recently made between the government and the Committee on Protection and Preservation of Mount Koubru. It also encouraged its people towards the same and to not engage in anything that may flare up communal hatred and violence.

The federation strongly believes in the people and is confident that nothing of a misdeed of any degree will be acted on by its people, the release added.

It also made an appeal to the people of Manipur to strive to maintain peace and harmony in the state. Each of us must, in our own capacity, discourage hate and enmity that may only hamper the integrity of our state, and for any forces acting against the goodwill of the people but on selfish interests, to stop pursuing selfish goals but act on the larger interest of the society and humanity, the federation added.
