The proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has refuted news in connection with the planting of bomb in Chingamakha and denies links with two persons arrested thereafter.
In a press release, M Sak-hen, deputy secretary of publicity, UNLF said that news covered by local news media on September 12 and 13 based on information provided by Imphal West SP is not true. The news said that two persons – Kshetrimayum Bhogendro @ Yaiphaba (41), son of Ksh Kunjakeshor, Khongman Zone 3 and Aheibam Nabin (48), son of A Nabakumar, Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai were arrested in connection with the planting of bomb at Chingamakha.
Rubbishing the news, the proscribed UNLF denied that the two are not at all active members or cadres of the outfit and have no relation with it.
UNLF also rubbished the claim that Bhogendro @ Yaiphaba has been working under “UNLF’s major Chaoba” since 2006. The outfit also refuted the claim that the group had nothing to do with the September 8, 2022 incident at Singjamei Chingamakha in connection with the planting of bomb.
UNLF also said that the 119 letterheads recovered from Bhogendro does not bear the logo with silver coloured star as had been publicly informed earlier. Moreover, there is no one in the UNLF with the name mentioned in the letterhead – Kh Leisemba, director finance.
Thokchom Suresh is not UNLF member
In another press release, the Proscribed UNLF also said that one Thokchom Suresh @ Parihanba @ Tombi, son of Th Kumar, Khurai Kongpal Sajor Leikai arrested by Manipur Police on September 10 is not an active member of the outfit or the Manipur People’s Army (MPA).
The release mentioned that Suresh was given “passing out” in 1998 February for 13th batch of MPA with BMT. However, immediately after training, he was had health issues and was made to retire from MPA, GHQ and from UNLF, said the outfit. After his retirement, he was not all related with UNLF/MPA, added the release.
