As per the orders from Home Department, Government of Manipur, District Administration of Ukhrul has set up temporary lock-up of COVID positive accused persons at one of the quarters inside the premise of Ukhrul Police Reserve Line, Phungreitang, Ukhrul.
The Government of Manipur has declared several locations in different districts as temporary lock-up for detention or accommodation of COVID positive accused persons of the concerned district police with immediate effect and until further orders.
Type II Quarter at Police Reserve Line, Phungreitang, Ukhrul has been identified as the location for Ukhrul district and Chassad PS Lock up for Kamjong district.
Ukhrul police informed this correspondent that since there is no separate lock-up room in the Police Station of Ukhrul, the said quarter has been identified as temporary lock-up since it is lying vacant at present.
The CMOs of respective districts have been advised to provide medical assistance per protocol, as per the order.
On the other hand, Ukhrul district magistrate Jospeh Pauline Kamson on Saturday issued an order under Section 144 of CrPC for extension of curfew in Ukhrul District for 14 days till June 11, 2021, in view of the increasing trends in the spread of COVID-19 infection.
Residents of nine districts –: enapati, Kangpokpi, Kamjong, Tengnoupal, Chandel, Pherzawl, Noney, Tamenglong and Jiribam are not allowed to travel to Ukhrul District and residents of Ukhrul District are also prohibited from travelling to the above nine districts. During this curfew, sub-divisional magistrates have been appointed as “Incident Commanders” and they along with District police officers will ensure that the above orders are strictly enforced, stated the orders issued by Ukhrul DM.
Banks and postal services will open only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 am to 02:30 pm. Persons going for COVID-19 vaccination, COVID-19 testing and medical emergencies are exempted from the purview of the curfew.
