Long awaited Blood Bank (a Blood Storage Centre) at District Hospital, Ukhrul has finally seen the light of day on January 19 after putting in a lot of effort to establish one such Centre in the District. It has become fully operational by launching the Centre at a simple function held at the Hospital on the same day. With this the hopes and aspiration of the people and the medical staff of the district hospital have become the reality.
“A 19 year old male patient admitted in the Hospital ICU Ward become the first patient to recieve the first unit of blood” informed Dr Reisangmi Raikhan, Medical Superintendent of Ukhrul District Hospital.
The Licence to operate the Blood Storage Centre at District Hospital, Ukhrul was approved from the competent authority of State Licensing and Controlling Authority of the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur on November 14, 2022 and the Consent of JNIMS, Imphal to be its Mother Blood Bank has also been approved on November 5, 2022.
Now any patient requiring blood transfusions can be done at District Hospital Ukhrul instead of referring all the way to Imphal for such treatment thereby it will save the much precious time in initiating timely treatment and also mitigate the hardships being faced by the patients from Ukhrul District.
